Return Methods

In your Return Policy, you set different (policy) rules that define what type of requests customers can submit, when customers are eligible to return different items, and when customers are required to return these items.  A Return Method is the part of a Policy Rule that defines:

  1. Whether or not the customer has to return the item?
  2. If they have to return it, where to and how?

ReturnGO supports the following types of Return Methods:

  • No shipment required
The customer is NOT required to return/ship back the item. Some merchant offers Pickup services. A designated team or tied-up carrier is set to pick up the items to be returned at the customer's address. Other merchants offer customers to keep the item and reward them about 30-50% Store credits refunds of the total paid price of the item.
  • Return to store location
The customer is required to return the item to a physical location. This is most popular to merchants who have a physical store. They could easily refer their nearby customers to drop the item at their store. It could be a physical store or a drop-off location/center.
  • Ship with any carrier - Customers are required to ship back the item and can choose the carrier because they are paying for the shipment. Whether it's via a local post office or a big name carrier, they can choose any and return the item back to you. Provide detailed Shipping instructions and the address where to return the items back.
  • Ship with pre-paid label - The customer is required to ship back using a Return Shipping Label supplied by the store. You can integrate with any of these third-party logistics, Shippo and ShipStation for US Clients, Sendcloud for UK Clients. You can then choose your preferred carrier in this third-party logistics. We also offer direct integrations with USPS for US Clients and Australia Post for Australian Clients.

When setting a Return Method, depending on the type, you will be able to set the following:

  • Descriptive information -
    • Name - an internal name, visible only to your account users. Use it to differentiate between Return Methods of the same type.
    • Display name - The way the return reason will be named when it is displayed to your customers in the portal
    • Description - A short description of the return method that will be displayed to help your customers understand the offer they choose.
SCREESHOTS (how the description looks in the portal)
  • Return Method Type - requires you to select one of the aforementioned types. In addition to whether or not the customer is required to return the item, this selection affects the content of the return method editor.
  • Shipping instructions - allows you to instruct where and how to ship the items, and anything else important for the customers to know in regard. This section appears in all return method types.
  • Shipping label settings - Available only in return methods of type "Ship with pre-paid label". This is where you connect to your shipping aggregator/carrier account and set the carrier and/or service label by which the Return Shipping Label will be generated. Read more...
  • Return Address - the return address to which the items will be returned and will appear in the Return Shipping Label. Read more...

Although a Return Methods is part of a Policy Rule, it is set separately. The purpose is to allow you to define each method once and use it multiple times.

To set a Return Method you have to click Settings and then Return Methods.
